Player Profile from Match Day Programme. (Season 2002/03)

Alan (or Hubbs) is a player with a long history of honours, despite his relatively tender (?!) years, aged 23.  With England Schools, U18s, U19s, and not to mention captaining the England Students U21 side, he has a lot of credits to his career already.

And it was during this time playing for England Schools against Australia (away, nice work if you can get it!) that Alan points to his highest achievement to date: beating Australia away was good, as they are the ultimate professionals in the game, and thatll stick in the memory for a long time.

But with the highs you get the lows.  Aside of a dose of shin splints a few years back, Alan has remained pretty much injury free, but there are some lows that can really get to you and Alan is quick to point out one particular incident that sticks in his mind: Yes, meeting the Sigley Brothers.  Now that was er (its ok Alan we take your point!)

The Bees have provided Alan with a good base with regular appearances and he sees the club as one with a future: There is great untapped potential here and a city like Birmingham should be able to sustain a professional rugby club.  The Bees have really started to come good, despite one or two wobbly moments recently, but I think we can really build on the squad and get somewhere over the next couple of years.  I want to play in the Premiership as Im sure most of the squad do, and I believe it is possible with B&S.

Being a local player also brings its benefits, with relatively little travelling and, quote playing for the best side in Brum.  So, you dont need to look too far away to find good rugby these days whether youre a player or a spectator the rest of the city should take note!!!
